Hi James...all.

 

Well the Plank turned up today.

For anybody that's interested, bought the blank from Custom Stock Ltd Tel 0114 2472947 spoke to Richard, very helpful guy.

 

The cost for the blank £40.00 + £15.00 P&P, which I thought was very good.

Quite daunting looking at it in its raw state :D

Next job is to think about tool's and draw an outline to make a template.

Then the fun begins :D

Should have some nice grain.

 

Apparently the realy nice grainy stocks are made from the root of the tree, VERY expensive and quite rare.

if i was to make a gun stock american black walnut would be my choice to :boogie:when i used to work in joiners shop we made big heavy picture frames and the grain and dark colouring was class :notworthy: very good choice

Cheer's mate, thats good to hear especialy from someone with your experience, working with the wood :thumbs:

Starting the scetching today, and may make the template.

 

Had some friends around last night/this morning, and dayum we shur dayed swolla sum moonshine :drinks: :wacko:
